How to Print 2×2 Photos
The trick: no printer or photo lab prints “2×2” as a size. You print a 4×6 sheet containing four 2×2 photos and cut them out. Here are all three ways to do it — home printer, store kiosk, or online pickup.

The 4-Step Method (Works Everywhere)
Same four steps whether you print at home or at a store.
- 1
Make a compliant 2×2 photo
Upload any photo to our tool. It crops to exactly 2×2 inches, whitens the background, and checks head size against US State Department rules.
- 2
Download the 4×6 layout
The tool tiles four 2×2 photos on a 4×6 sheet at 300 DPI with cut guide lines — the format every printer and photo lab understands.
- 3
Print it as a standard 4×6
At home: 4×6 glossy photo paper, Best quality, Actual Size (100%). At a lab: order a regular 4×6 print and decline auto-enhance and zoom-to-fill.
- 4
Cut along the guide lines
Use a ruler and craft knife or paper trimmer. Verify each photo measures exactly 2×2 inches with no white border.
Never arrange the photos yourself in Word or Canva

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I print 2×2 photos?
Put four 2×2 photos on one 4×6 layout file (our tool does this automatically with cut lines), then print that file as a standard 4×6 photo — at home on photo paper, at a store kiosk, or via online pickup at Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens. Cut along the guide lines after printing.
Can I print a 2×2 photo by itself?
Photo labs and home printers don't offer 2×2 as a print size — the smallest standard is 4×6. That's why the universal method is tiling four 2×2 photos on a 4×6 sheet and cutting them out. You get 4 photos for the price of one 4×6 print.
How do I print a 2×2 photo on a 4×6?
A 4×6 sheet fits four 2×2 photos in a 2×2 grid (using a 4×4 area, with 2 inches left for margin). Don't arrange this manually in Word — use a passport photo tool that tiles the photos at exactly 300 DPI with cut lines, or the print will come out the wrong size.
How do I print 2×2 photos from my phone?
Generate the 4×6 layout on your phone, then either AirPrint/Mopria it to a home printer (paper size 4×6, no 'scale to fit'), upload it to the Walmart/CVS/Walgreens app as a 4×6 print for 1-hour pickup, or bring the file to any store kiosk on your phone.
What size do I tell the kiosk or photo site?
Always order a 4×6 (10×15 cm) print — never 'passport photo service,' which costs $15+ because it includes taking the photo. Your layout file already contains the 2×2 photos at the right size; the lab just prints it like a vacation photo.
Why did my 2×2 photo print the wrong size?
Scaling. 'Fit to page,' 'fill,' 'zoom to fill,' and borderless mode all rescale the sheet so the photos no longer measure exactly 2×2 inches. Print at Actual Size (100%) at home, and decline auto-enhance/zoom options at kiosks.
